INSEPARABLE great-great-grandparents celebrated 60 years of marriage together with a party and karaoke.

Ivy, 79, and Alf, 82, Wiseman, of Seventh Avenue, Limeside, hosted a party with a live band and karaoke at the Welcome Inn on Hollins Road to mark their diamond wedding anniversary.

They had three children, two of which have passed away, and eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The couple have lived in Oldham all their lives and met at a dance, after Alf intervened to protect Ivy and her friend who were being bothered by another man.

Alf walked Ivy home that night and six weeks later they were married.

The pair worked at factories in the area and Alf also served in the armed forces.

Rarely out of each others company they enjoy karaoke and socialising with friends.

Ivy said: "We met at the Majestic Dance Hall and he walked me home and then we were married six weeks after.

"When you look back at how long it has been you just think, 'wow!' You have to work together and do what each other wants to do. We're always with one another."

A friend of the couple Joyce Carolan described the pair as a friendly couple who are never separated.

She said: "They both do the karaoke and they both get up and sing, they're both just very friendly.

"They are just a really nice couple.

"They go to Blackpool a lot and they're always together, they're never without each other."
