COOKING can be a daunting task but it can also be fun when done as part of a team.
Around 40 people have been visiting the Greenacres Community Centre, in Galland Street, to learn all about cooking meals from scratch - and doing it as a family.
The sessions, organised by the Greenacres Community Centre Association in partnership with Oldham Play Action Group, are running throughout the summer every Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm.
This is thanks to a small grant from the People's Health Trust, which funds local community groups.
Groups were divided into three - the first made meatballs, the second cooked the sauce and the third made the salad to accompany the meal.
Some of the vegetables were grown at the centre's own garden.
Everyone then sat down together to share what they had cooked and took away tips to promote healthy eating.
Other activities at the centre include various arts and crafts.
Tina Graham, of the GCC Association, said: "The centre is at its best when it's full of people and when 40 or more people are sitting down to share a meal they have all contributed towards.
"It's a really positive and social time and people will take that away with them."
