A ROYTON youngster had the experience of a lifetime when he walked out at Wembley on Sunday as a Manchester United mascot.

Adam Levein stepped out on to the hallowed turf in front of 80,000 fans alongside Reds' goalkeeper David De Gea for the FA Community Shield clash with Leicester City.

FA Cup holders United edged out the Premier League champions 2-1 with goals from Jesse Lingard and summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the traditional curtain-raiser for the new top flight season which gets under way this weekend.

Adam, who won the mascot competition on the McDonald's Better Play website, said: "I had so much fun walking out in front of my friends and family on to the Wembley pitch.

"We are all huge football fans and they were so happy for me. This is a dream come true."

England legend Sir Geoff Hurst, McDonald's director of football, said: "Having the chance to walk out at Wembley in such a highly anticipated match is something any football fan would dream of doing.

"It's a fantastic experience to walk out with someone you look up to.

"I've had the honour of walking out in front of thousands of fans and I can still say to this day it's an unforgettable experience and I'm sure Adam felt the same."
