'DANGEROUS' . . . a resident complained that the vehicle in Ripponden Road was obstructing views for drivers
COMPLAINTS have been made to Oldham Council over a vehicle parked "illegally" and "dangerously" in the town centre.
The Mini Cooper was spotted parked on double yellow lines in Ripponden Road, at the junction with Wales Street on around 30 separate occasions.
A nearby resident who passes the car whenever he leaves his home has called for Oldham Council to take action and not to "minimise the seriousness of this crime".
The man, who lives near Ripponden Road, told the Chronicle: "It is parked there all day every day on a main A road.
"I have reported it and sent through photos but it has not been dealt with.
"The council's parking people are based in Vulcan Street which is just around the corner so there is no excuse."
The resident, who first complained to the council on Tuesday, June 28, has noted the vehicle in the same location on more than 27 occasions in the past two months.
He has also seen lorries and 40-foot vehicles trying to manoeuvre around the parked car to turn the corner at the junction, near EJ's Cafe.
A Seat Leon was seen parked at the junction regularly for three or four weeks, before the resident noticed that the junction was being used by a Mini Cooper.
Logging each separate occurrence, the resident took photos of the vehicles throughout July and again on Monday, August 1.
He said: "It is right on the corner, obstructing views.
"It is dangerous and it is causing problems."
The council declined to comment on the story.
