A MAN was arrested after he was seen by a member of public waving an axe around in the street, police have revealed.
The 53-year-old was sat on a bench in Lees Street holding the weapon and shouting when police arrived at around 1.15pm on Tuesday.
The man, who has not been charged, was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.
A police spokesman said: "We have had a report of a man with an axe just after 1pm.
"It does not appear that he was making too much of it but he was shouting.
