OLDHAM residents will be given the "Tactics for Success" with the launch of an initiative by Oldham Athletic Community Trust to help those looking to progress into employment, education or training.
Partnering with national charity Street League, OACT will give participants the chance to take part in an employment academy, including a variety of workshops over five weeks.
Kicking off at Oldham Athletic from August 10, residents aged 16 to 30 will be able to improve their skills and gain help on CV writing, interview techniques and building confidence three days a week.
Working with partners and local businesses, the academy will provide opportunities for participants to gain relevant workplace experience in order to give them the best possible chance of progressing into sustainable employment.
Expertise
Oldham Athletic Community Trust education officer Dale Harris said: "It is great to renew our partnership with Street League this summer.
"It made perfect sense to utilise our local knowledge with their employment expertise in order to break down some barriers that unemployed residents of Oldham may face.
"It will be a fantastic opportunity for local people in Oldham to gain valuable skills and experience to progress into sustainable employment.
"This just highlights one of many projects we do as a trust to benefit the wider community in Oldham.
"We are more than just a football club - we work with local business, providers and organisations in order to give Oldham residents the chance to succeed.
"Great thanks have to go to the Peter Cruddas Foundation, which has financially supported Tactics for Success this summer and without who the project would not be able to go ahead."
On completion of the five-week course all participants will be invited to an event held at SportsDirect.com Park to celebrate their personal success while on the course.
Dynamic
Daniel Proffitt, Street League progressions co-ordinator, said: "By linking up again with the Oldham Athletic Community Trust, Street League is partnering with a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation which has the Oldham community at its heart.
"Our award-winning employment academy has been hugely successful in engaging with work ready young adults throughout the UK and moving them into work and we look forward to bringing it to Oldham this summer."
