POLICE are appealing for information after a large disturbance in Werneth led to a car being destroyed in a fire and others damaged on Sunday.

Officers were called to Windsor Road shortly before 2am to reports of a large disturbance and people fighting.

When police attended the group had dispersed, however a car had been set on fire, two further vehicles damaged and a house had multiple windows and doors broken during the incident.

A Mercedes C Class was destroyed by the fire, however no injuries were reported.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and no arrests have been made but extra police patrols are in the area to offer reassurance to residents.

Concern
Detective Inspector Lewis Hughes, of GMP's Oldham borough, said: "I understand that incidents of this nature will cause concern in the community and I want to offer reassurance that we have increased patrols in the area in response.

"This incident caused a large disturbance on a residential street in the early hours of the morning and could have woken residents who may have seen what happened.

"We will not tolerate people causing tensions in our communities and I would urge anyone who saw anything that can help our investigation to contact the police."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
