EXTREME Air Trampoline Park plan
OLDHAM residents will reach new heights when the borough's first indoor trampoline park opens this year.
Oldham Council has approved planning permission to allow the construction of a trampoline playground at the Alexandra Retail Park near to the town centre.
The build phase of the Extreme Air trampoline centre has already begun with completion expected for the end of September or early October.
Great
It will feature multiple trampolines that can be used for a number of leisure activities including free jumping, fitness classes, toddler sessions, coaching, parties and group and corporate entertainment.
Councillor Steven Bashforth, chairman of the planning committee, said: "It is great, we need stuff like this, I am pleased. Anything like that has got to be welcomed.
"Oldham is the right place for it, when we first knew about this we thought it is going to be good.
"Hopefully, it will feed more stuff like that and it will give people confidence and there is also a lot of people who will benefit from it."
As well as trampolines, the park will host an adventure section with battle pit and giant air bag with an ethos of providing a safe but exciting environment. Trampoline exercise offers excellent health benefits for cardiovascular fitness and the park will show investment within Oldham whilst also engaging with local schools and colleges.
David Thornton, one of the owners of Extreme Air, said: "We believe we can add to the community around Oldham.
"The good thing about it is it stretches to all age groups from the very young to the older age groups with 40 or 50 trampolines, basket ball courts, fitness balance beams and a really cool cafe.
"It's all about adding to Oldham and trying to give back to the community and give some fun and investment.
Recruit
"It will add to the local community as well because we're looking to recruit from within Oldham.
"We want to get schools involved and working with local colleges and they can be involved."
It will also be unique to Oldham and the wider area with the nearest competitor Go Air Trampoline Park which is based approximately six miles away in East Manchester.
