AMONG ugly scenes of rioting during Euro 2016 a band of Springhead lads are doing their best to lighten the mood in Marseille.
Springhead FC players decked head to toe in St George's flag morph suits are helping to keep spirits up after England's one-all draw with Russia on Saturday night and inject a bit of revelry into a tournament so-far marred by hooliganism and violence.
The antics of Lee McAllister; Andy Revill; Will Revill; Paul Ratcliffe; John Cunningham; Joe Cunningham; Richard Ferguson; Paul Needham; Richard Wild and Lee Hollin chanting their own version of "Will Griggs On Fire" has gone viral on the internet and is set to be splashed all over the UK's tabloids.
The scenes are a welcome relief from the bloody violence between England and Russian fans which has been televised worldwide and has earned both teams a Uefa disqualification threat if there is further trouble from fans.
"We are all fine and stayed away from most of the trouble," Lee McAllister told us.
"We stayed in the fanzone as we'd heard of trouble in the port. Some of the lads were in the end of the ground where the trouble broke out but stayed away from it and got out the stadium as quickly as possible.
"It was all organised by a large group of Russians who made their way to the front of the stand then waded into England fans. There was no police presence inside the ground . Before that we had a great day and were drinking and having pictures with Russians.
"We just wanted to do something a bit different and we often do fancy dress on lads' trips.
"It was unbelievable and we must have had thousands of photos taken during the day with national newspapers wanting to run stories on us."
