Change afoot for deliveries at superstore

CHANGES to the delivery hours of a Morrisons superstore are being recommended for approval to councillors - despite concerns from neighbours about noise pollution.
On Wednesday councillors will convene at a planning meeting to discuss whether the delivery hours of the superstore in Poplar Street, Failsworth, should be extended.
The superstore building is in a mixed use area with the site surrounded by residential properties on three sides.
In letters to the council residents voiced their concerns that an extension of the current delivery hours - 7am-9pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-4pm on a Sunday - would bring noise generation during unreasonable times.
The proposal would see the hours changed to 5am-11pm every day, adding an additional four hours Monday to Saturday and 11 hours on Sunday.
In consultations with pollution control, the council was advised to allow temporary permission to allow noise levels to be monitored.
It is recommended for approval subject that permission is granted for a limited period of 12 months to allow an assessment to be made and no deliveries take place outside of the hours.
