A 16-YEAR-OLD boy is fighting for his life after taking ecstasy at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to Elm Road in Limeside at around 4.30am on Saturday after the teenager collapsed.
He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital where he remains in a critical condition after taking an ecstasy pill believed to be called "Rockstar".
Rockstar tablets are sold as ecstasy and normally have a star impression on them.
Greater Manchester Police has launched an investigation.
The boy's collapse follows a warning from the force on Saturday after five men in Rochdale fell ill after taking legal highs.
Shortly after 11am on Friday police were called to Drake Street in Rochdale to reports that a 33-year-old man had collapsed. His friends told officers at the scene that he had been taking legal highs. He remains in hospital in an induced coma.
Collapsed
Later that day, at around 2.20pm, police were called to Drake Street and the junction of Oldham Road in Rochdale town centre where two men, both in their 30s, had collapsed.
The men are believed to have also taken legal highs before collapsing. They received medical attention at the scene before leaving of their own accord.
Then on Saturday two further men were reported to have been suffering adverse effects as a result of taking legal highs, with one of them, aged 34, currently in hospital in a serious condition.
The other man received medical treatment before leaving of his own accord.
It is believed that some of them may have taken "Annihilation" or "Cherry Bombs" which are different forms of psychoactive substances.
