Helping homeless hounds

FOUR wheeled and four legged friends rolled into Tommyfield Market this week.

Dogs Trust Manchester Dogmobile set up stall in Albion Street to raise awareness of the re-homing charity.

A resident from the Denton based centre, Noel, also came along to shake paws with Oldhamers who got to find out more about him and other homeless hounds awaiting their forever homes.

Dogmobile Assistant Manager, Laura Nicholas, said: “The Dogmobile is a fun, interactive way to help people find out more about re-homing a rescue dog and the brilliant work of Dogs Trust. Whilst dogs are not directly re-homed from the Dogmobile, if you do spot one currently at Dogs Trust Manchester that would suit your lifestyle, we encourage you to visit the centre to find out more about making a new best friend.”

Dogs Trust Manchester is holding two final drop-in events to give owners the chance to get their dogs micro chipped for free.

They will be held on Tuesday, May 17, from 12 7.30pm, and on Sunday, May 22, from 10am-4pm.

Previous events have seen hundreds of dogs micro chipped, with many owners taking advantage of the free offer after the law changed in April.

The change in the law means owners who don’t have their dogs micro chipped can now face a fine of up to £500.
