UKIP 2016 Election Statement - Time to declare enough is enough

NEXT year the Government will spend more on foreign aid than it does on local government.

Treasury figures show that foreign aid spending will be £11.8billion compared with £9.6billion to be given to local government.

How can it be right that front-line workers are being sacked and your services cut whilst foreign aid is still growing?

How can it be right that our government spends billions on EU membership and all that Oldham gets in return is pressure on housing, school places, health care, jobs and wages?

How can Oldham be measured the most deprived town in England despite having the dual “benefits” of decades of Labour control and EU membership?

The local elections will be followed soon after by the referendum on EU membership.

Both events will be opportunities for the people of Oldham to make their voices heard.

You will have the opportunity to say enough is enough - to say that you have had enough of a Labour Council that has done nothing but oversee the decline of this town.

To say enough to the EU that takes your money to spend around the rest of the EU when it would be better spent on your services here in Oldham.

Oldham deserves better than this.

The major problems that face Oldham are all related to EU membership. The downward pressure on wages, lack of jobs, lack of school places, local children not getting into their choice of school, massive pressure on the NHS and a huge shortage of affordable housing.

Despite these problems Labour want to stay in the EU and let ever more people into the country.

But imagine what could be done in Oldham if we didn’t waste billions on Foreign Aid and EU membership. Your money could be spent on your services.

By implementing UKIP policies we could stop cutting front-line jobs, stop cutting your services, increase spending on education, increase spending on social services, increase spending on housing and at the same time pay off the massive council debt.
