A LEES man is hoping a million-pound challenge can help grieving loved ones and a charity close to their hearts.
The Humphreys family’s world fell apart four years ago when wife and mother Kathleen (47) died from bowel cancer. She was cared for at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Royton, and her family say they are “eternally grateful” for her care.
The hospice;s work has spurred Liam Gray into a fundraising challenge with difference. The 28-year-old partner of Kathleen’s daughter Terrie is launching an online advertising campaign he hopes will raise £1 million for Dr Kershaw’s in 100 days.
The former soldier’s Million Pound Advert bid goes live on Monday - offering businesses permanent advertising space and a link to their own websites.
“Seeing the pain the family went through, I wanted to do something to help, but I didn’t know how.
“When I read that over £16billion was spent every year on advertising worldwide, I thought why not come up with something that creates enough traffic to make it worthwhile advertising, while giving companies the opportunity to put their name to something worthwhile. Hopefully, we will raise a substantial amount of money.”
