Knifeman jailed for robbery

A HEROIN addict who robbed a young Oldham College student at knifepoint in the town centre has been jailed.

David Storer (33), diagnosed as Hepatitis C-positive, also bit his victim on his shoulder during the confrontation last May.

Storer, of Canal Street, Chadderton, who has a string on convictions including violence and robbery, threatened to stab 17-year-old Liam Reeves with a craft knife before running off with his mobile phone.

Sentencing him at Manchester Crown Court, Judge Jeffrey Lewis told him: “It is really impossible to come to any conclusion other than that you should be regarded as dangerous.”

Storer, who pleaded guilty to robbery and carrying a bladed weapon, was jailed for four years plus an extended licence period of two more years.

Judge Lewis, who had been told he had been voluntarily taking part in a course to tackle his drug addiction while on remand, added: “You have my sincere good wishes that you succeed in your aim of becoming a better person before you are released.”

Nicola Wells prosecuting, said Mr Reeves bravely chased his attacker and got his phone back. He later identified Storer to police.

David Booth defending, said his client had been able to recall almost nothing of the attack on May 6.

The victim did not contract the Hepatitis disease following the bite.
