Working hard to raise standards

HOLLINWOOD’S New Bridge School has been given the thumbs-up to help train the next generation of teachers.

New Bridge is one of 54 schools in England granted teaching school status in the latest round of selections, bringing the total number to more than 700. The school will take a leading role in recruiting and training new teachers and pick and support potential headteachers. It will also work with schools to raise teaching standards.

Teaching schools are all rated outstanding, and work with other schools to offer
.0 for high quality initial teaching training and offer professional development opportunities for teachers at all stages of their career.

Graham Quinn, New Bridge executive principal and a national leader of education, said: “This is going to be another exciting chapter in our New Bridge story. To receive this recognition is testament of our hard work, vision and commitment.

“I am certain this designation will allow us to further support our next generation of teachers and professionals, thereby ensuring our children in Oldham benefit from excellent practice.”
