THE thug who killed tragic Dominic Doyle was led by his evil stepdad — a man who had already been involved in two killings, including one in Failsworth.

Six people — including three members of the same family — have been locked up for offences linked to the stabbing of 21-year-old Mr Doyle, who died after an unprovoked street attack in Denton on June 7, last year.

Mitchell Ingham (15) was jailed for life for murdering Mr Doyle while Ingham’s stepdad, Colin McDonald (42) was jailed for life for his part in it.

Ingham’s mother, Diane Ingham (42) has been jailed for three years for trying to cover up the crime. All three are from Denton.

Manchester Crown Court heard that Mitchell Ingham tried to start trouble in the toilets with one of Mr Doyle’s friends at Hughes’s Bar, Manchester Road, in the early hours of June 7.

The teen thug then went home to nearby Acre Street, picked up a kitchen knife and returned to the pub with his stepdad McDonald and his mother.

The three were met in the street with two of Ingham’s friends who had been out with him earlier that night, Connor Ward and Rikki Linehan.

Backed up by McDonald, Ingham pulled a bread knife from his sleeve and went on the rampage with Linehan, who was also armed with a knife.

Wesley Griffiths ran for his life as Ingham slashed wildly at him. He got away — but his best friend Mr Doyle did not.

A third teenager, Liam Seabright, joined in at the end of the fighting, by kicking Stephen Jones in the head as he tried to stem Dominic’s bleeding with his shirt, as he lay dying on the floor.

Diane Ingham washed the attackers’ clothes in an attempt to cover up what they had done.

McDonald was jailed in 1997 for manslaughter when he followed a stranger from Piccadilly Station and pushed him into the canal in Minshull Street.

Thirteen years later, he was involved in the hit and run death of Wayne Leary (38) who was crossing Oldham Road, Failsworth, in April, 2010, to meet his 10-year-old daughter Aimee.

Richard Linehan (19) of Harley Street, Manchester, was sentenced to 14 years and two months for murder; section 18 assault, and violent disorder.

Connor Ward (17) of Hackle Street, Manchester was sentenced to two years and 101 days in prison for manslaughter and violent disorder.

Liam Seabright (19) of Rowcon Close, Audenshaw, was was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for violent disorder.
