Luke Campbell, died in police chase.
A MAN who died in a car crash in Trafford following a police chase has been named as 24-year-old Luke Campbell from Sholver.
Police began chasing a Mercedes S320 driven by Mr Campbell after it drove off at speed from Manchester City Centre around 3.30am on February 21. Within a minute of the chase starting, the Mercedes collided with a Mini at traffic lights in Chester Road and hit a barrier.
Father-of-one Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and two women in the Mini were taken to hospital. A 19-year-old woman broke ribs and a 22-year-old had several broken bones.
Friends of Mr Campbell, a ground worker, have paid tribute to him on the Facebook page RIP Luke Campbell.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the pursuit.
Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed any part of the pursuit or the collision to contact the IPCC on 0300-020 0096.
