BMA demands judicial review on imposed deal

JUNIOR doctors will continue their fight against a new work contract, with three further strikes following the Government’s decision to impose the new terms.

Earlier this month Mr Hunt argued he had been left with no choice but to impose the new contract after months of negotiations between the Government and the BMA failed to agree a deal.

BMA junior doctors committee chairman Johann Malawana said: “Imposing this contract will seriously undermine the ability of the NHS to recruit and retain junior doctors in areas of medicine with the most unsocial hours, where there are already staffing shortages.”

Three sets of industrial action, each starting at 8am and lasting 48 hours, with emergency-only cover provided, will be on March 9, April 6 and April 26.
