INSPIRATIONAL footballer Chris Jones enjoyed a double celebration with his team mates after achieving two goals.

Not only did the Chadderton Park cerebral palsy player turn 21, he also became their first player to gain an FA coaching qualification. Chris, from Bury, who only joined the team a year ago, completed his level one training and can now coach the younger members.

“It took two weekends to complete and involved first aid, practical skills and theory,” said Chris, who has overcome many cerebral palsy milestones. “I really enjoyed it and I’d love to do my level 2.

“It feels good to be the first player from the team to do it.”

Chris’s mum Susan said the whole family are very proud of his achievements.

“At six months old we were told he’d never walk, never talk or anything so to see him now getting this coaching award is amazing.”

Hannah Dunks, who helps run Chadderton Park CP team, said Chris is an example to others.

“It’s amazing for the club to see a player turn into a coach. It’s always the dream to see them move on and achieve something that will inspire other players to do the same.”
