ACE visit: Ashton MP Angela Rayner and the Mayor and Mayoress of Oldham, councillors Ateeque Ur-Rehman and Yasmin Toor, meet Nicola Bush. Nicola has cerebral palsy and communicates using a voice output communication aid that she operates via head tracker.
The Mayor of Oldham and Failsworth MP Angela Rayner visited a charity transforming the lives of severely disabled people of all ages.
ACE Centre (North) provides specialist support to give people without speech a voice, and is one of the charities chosen by Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman during his year in office.
The Mayor and MP will be taking part in a ride on the longest zip wire in Europe to raise money for a number of good causes, among them the ACE Centre. The pair and a daring band of volunteers will take part in a sponsored “flight” on the 500ft high zip wire in Snowdonia, in May.
Anna Reeves, manager of ACE Centre (North), said: “Used appropriately, technology can make a positive difference and help to achieve equality for people with disabilities. We are delighted the Mayor has chosen to support the work we do.”
