COUNCILLOR Warren Bates with the dumped rubbish
Delays in clearing away fly-tipped rubbish around the borough are the result of council cuts, claims councillor Warren Bates
Councillor Bates told the council a large amount of rubbish had been dumped in front of garages on Stanhope Way in Failsworth on Monday. The bags, full of clothing, are now spilling into the street.
Councillor Bates, who lives nearby, said: “The rubbish is has been there since Monday afternoon. One man couldn’t get his car in the garage. It should have been gone by now. In my opinion this is down to the cuts in council staff. I have sympathy for them, but it’s going to get worse.”
A council spokesman said: “We received a complaint on Tuesday and officers went down on the same day. We have arranged for it to be removed. Anyone with information about it can get in touch with.
