Woman sees red after bedding colours her hair

FROM white to pink . . . the 61-year-old believes the colour change in her hair was caused by using her new red bedding
A WOMAN who says her red bedding dyed her white hair pink while she slept is warning others to be aware they might get an unexpected dye job.
The Oldhamer was shocked when her family pointed out her usually white hair had gone a shade of pink.
The 61 year old believed it had been caused by her new bright red bedding - bought for £60 from Debenhams.
She said: “The bedding was beautiful, a lovely red Scandinavian design that I thought would be perfect for Christmas. I’d only slept in it for a few nights when my family started to comment about my hair turning pink. It was at the back of my head so I hadn’t noticed it myself - but when I saw pictures I was horrified. I had to go to the hairdressers and have my hair bleached and re-cut.”
She contacted Debenhams who agreed to pick up the Fairisle Bedding Set from her home and take it for quality tests. She told them she hadn’t slept with wet hair or washed the set.
While waiting for a response she commented about the set online and found she wasn’t the only one with a colour-run problem.
“Clearly Debenhams were aware of the problem but continued to sell it. There was no warning.”
The set’s online description suggests the colour isn’t fast and the product should be washed with other clothing of a similar colour.
