WORLD champion boxer Anthony Crolla is swapping his boxing gloves for running shoes - and looking for people to join his team in this year’s Great Manchester Run.
Oldhamer Crolla has already recruited fellow boxing champ Callum Smith to “Crolla’s Army” during the launch at Gallagher’s Gym in Bolton.
Runners of all abilities can apply for one of 12 spaces in Anthny’s team - one runner for each round of a boxing bout - to join him on the 10K run on May 22.
The lightweight champion, who will be running to raise money for autism charities, said: “Manchester’s Great Run is a really special event, with the whole city coming out to run or cheer their support.
“I had so much support from start to finish and I just want to give something back and help other runners of all abilities have their greatest Manchester run.
Applicants must have already entered or intend to participate in the 2016 Great Manchester Run to be selected to join “Crolla’s Army”, and must be 15 or over.
To register interest runners should email crollaarmy@ greatrun.org by noon on Moday, February 22, with a maximum 100-word summary on why they want to run with “Crolla’s Army”.
All applicants can sign up for the run at www.greatrun.org/Manchester.
