Former school head dies at 88

A FORMER Saddleworth primary school head teacher has died at the age of 88.
Robert Parker was the second-longest serving head in Saddleworth when he retired in July 1985. He began his career in 1952 at Doctor Lane, Scouthead, and taught at Derker for four years before taking the headship at Dobcross CE School, where his wife the late Edna Parker was a teacher.
The funeral takes place on Monday, February 8, in St Chad’s Church, Uppermill, at 11am.
