‘Amazing’ care sparks couple to raise £15,000 for hospital

A THANKFUL couple whose premature twins needed vital treatment at the Royal Oldham Hospital have launched a fundraising campaign as a way of saying thank-you.

So far Leanne and David Royle have raised £3,000 towards their £15,000 target for a new incubator at the hospital.

Twins Evie and Noah were born three months early at Tameside hospital on August 5, then transferred to Oldham - one at a time, since Oldham was short of incubators - next day for a five-week critical care stay.

They were later taken to Calderdale hospital for another four weeks - the family now lives in Huddersfield and apart from follow-ups, the twins are doing well.

Leanne (34), a finance manager at Oldham College, said the fundraising idea came from David (32) and her dad.

“We have a lot to be thankful for,” she said. “The care we received at the Royal Oldham Hospital was amazing. We spoke to some of the nurses and they put us in contact with their charity co-ordinator. We’re aiming to raise £15,000 before the twins’ first birthday.”

The couple aim to do a fundraiser each month until August.
