MIKE BUCKLEY: resisting calls for his resignation
SADDLEWORTH residents are backing an online campaign calling for the resignation of disgraced parish councillor Mike Buckley
Buckley (68) from Dobcross, has refused to resign from Saddleworth Parish Council despite requests and condemnation by fellow councillors after he was found guilty of downloading indecent pictures of yong boys. More than 200 local people have now signed the petition urging him to quit.
Buckley was sentenced last week to 35 two-hour sessions, with extra work in between, at an Internet Sexual Offenders’ Treatment Programme. He will also be subject to supervision by the Probation Service for two years and to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years.
The petition calls on Buckley also to resign from the Save Diggle Action Group.
