JUNIOR Doctors at the Royal Oldham Hospital will strike next Tuesday after the brekdown of talks regarding “unsafe and unfair” contract changes.
Weeks of talks betwen the British Medical Association, NHS Employers and the Government have failed to address the doctors’ concerns.
The BMA has warned that unless progress is made, the 24-hour action will see junior doctors provide emergency care only and will be followed by further industrial action.
A 48-hour period of emergency care only is also set to take place on January 26, with a third on February 10, with full withdrawal of junior doctor labour from 8am-5pm.
The action is likely to lead to the cancellation of thousands of non-emergency operations and hospital appointments across the country.
