Nappy New Year!

GORGEOUS Emelie Beau Heyes made history when she was the first baby to be born in the North-West in 2016.
Proud parents Kathryn and Tom Heyes posed for photographs with their daughter after she was delivered at the Royal Oldham Hospital at 12.15am on New Year’s Day weighing 7lb 9oz..
Emelie had been due on January 6 as a little sister for Lois (14) and eight-year-old Imogen.
Kathryn (32), of Shaw Road, Royton, went into labour at 7am: “It’s certainly a new year to remember!” she said.
First-time father Tom, (22) who works in Failsworth added: “I’m over the moon.”
Emelie was one of several babies born at the Royal Oldham Hospital on January 1. They included Ava Emelia Ryan who was the first to be delivered by Caesarean section, at 2.32am weighing 10lb 4oz.
She was due on January 1. Mum Karina Corrigan (35) of Boundary Park Road, Oldham and partner Alan Ryan (46), a bus driver, had hoped she would arrive on December 31.
First-time mum Karina said: “She’s beautiful. New Year’s Day is such a lovely, family day and it will be very special next year.”
Jusna Begum (27), of Woolmore Avenue, Royton, gave birth to her daughter who weighed 7lb 3 1/2 oz at 3.33am. She and husband Harun Miah (31), hadn’t decided on a name for the new addition to their family which also includes son Zayaan Miah (2).
Jusna, who didn’t know the sex of her baby beforehand, said: “She’s my world. I wasn’t bothered if I had a boy or a girl, but now I’ve got a girl my family is complete. It feels extra special that she was born on New Year’s Day.”
Lucy Figueiredo (28), of Course View, Holts, will have to juggle her studies with sleepless nights after giving birth to Solomon Pinto at 5.32am. She is in the first year of her health and social care course at University Campus Oldham.
“It was a hard birth but I am just delighted,” she said. Solomon, who weighed 7lb 15oz, is a little brother for seven-year-old sister Nayara. He had been due on January 2 but arrived early to the delight of Lucy and dad Celso Pinto (35).
