LIFESAVERS . . . Oldham Mayor, Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman, presents the defibrillators at Sainsbury’s
THREE Oldham schools have received potentially lifesaving equipment.
Defibrillators — used when someone has a heart attack — were presented to St Mary’s primary school in High Crompton, SS Aiden and Oswald Primary in Royton and Kingsland School, Watersheddings.
Mahdlo youth zone in Oldham town centre also received a defibrillator at the presentation, at Sainsbury’s in Oldham.
The supermarket chose Heartstart Oldham, which provides free CPR training for schools and organisations, as its charity of the year. It raised more than £2,500 for the machines, including a £650 donation by St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Rochdale.
More than half of Oldham’s schools now have a difibrillator.
