Grieving parents’ cool cot campaign

Sarah Keast and Chris Hill, from Derker, are raising money for a cool cot to help parents who have stillborn babies
A COUPLE who lost their baby just two months ago have channelled their grief into a fundraiser to help parents in a similar situation.
Chris Hill and Sarah Keast, from Derker have so far raised over £700 of the £2,000 needed to buy a cool cot — with a plaque — for the Royal Oldham Hospital.
Baby Ava-Mai was stillborn on October 20, and a small consolation for mum Sarah (32) and dad Chris (30) was being able to spend some time with their daughter, who was placed in a cool cot, which allows parents to stay with their babies a little longer.
There are currently two such cots at the hospital.
Chris said: “It was extremely traumatic, but we were able to use the cool cot and it helped us. It gives you time to bond. We spent 24 hours with her we wouldn’t have had. It helps to come to terms with what has happened. We found it extremely helpful and comforting.
“We want other people to have the same chance.”
