Date published: 07 December 2015

AN Oldham-born rapper is on a high note after finishing a musical tour in Australia.

Former Oldham Sixth Form College student Rydah — Lewis Straughn — moved to Melbourne in 2012 after being signed by music label Prince Entertainment.

Rydah produced his first CD, “The Siege of Oldham”, as a 15-year-old Counthill School pupil living in Derker. At 24, he is enjoying success and has just supported international R&B sensation Jason Derulo on his Australian tour in front of up to 12,000 fans a night.

In May next year he will perform in Los Angeles: “Opportunities like this are few and far between so I need to appreciate the chance I’ve been given and represent myself to the best of my ability - and put my hometown on the map.”
