Oldham West and Royton by-election result

Labour candidate Jim McMahon
JIM McMahon has held the Oldham West and Royton seat for Labour. The Council leader increased his party's majority to almost 62 per cent of the vote (up 7 per cent) as he succeeded his good friend Michael Meacher into Westminster. McMahon polled 17,209 votes seeing the majority cut to just under 11,000. The votes were as follows: Jim McMahon (Labour) 17,322 John Bickley (UKIP) 6,487 James Daly (Con) 2,596 Jane Brophy (Lib-Dem) 1,024 Simeon Hart (Green) 249 Sir Oink-a-Lot (Monster Raving Loony Party) 141.
