AN OLDHAM school worker found herself living a nightmare when a spurned lover launched a “revenge porn” attack on her.
Lorry driver Jeffrey Young (60) began his vicious campaign after their whirlwind romance soured on a sunshine holiday. He sent intimate photographs he had taken of her to the head of her Oldham school.
Young claimed she was totally unfit to have any anything to do with young children, and gave the school head details of her sexual activity in an “extremely detailed and graphic way.”
Manchester Crown Court heard Young also contacted his victim’s previous partner and her sister.
Jailing him for eight months, Judge Maurice Greene told him: “This was sinister and abusive behaviour, almost akin to blackmail, made worse when you did it under the guise of being concerned for the welfare of children.”
He said: “She feels violated and broken by what you did and it could have had serious affects on her employment. Any taint of her character could have been devastating, and you knew that.”
The court had been told Young, of Newbold Hall Drive, Rochdale, met the woman on an online dating site in April. Little more than a month later they jetted off on an exotic holiday.
Rachel Shenton prosecuting, said the whirlwind romance quickly soured, as Young became volatile, unpredictable and jealous. On their return the woman who cannot be named, voiced her concerns over his changed behaviour and he became upset and said he was ending the relationship.
Within days he asked her to meet him. The woman agreed, but insisted on somewhere public, which angered Young.
The court heard he sent her one of four intimate photographs he had taken and told her she was unfit to be near children and he would contact her boss. His victim was so anxious she spoke to the headteacher herself. Police were called and Young arrested. She told officers she had been terrified of what else he might do.
David Bruce defending, said Young accepted he had been “malicious and vindictive” and didn’t excuse it.
As well as the eight month sentence, Young was ordered to pay £900 court costs, and made subject of a restraining order banning him from going anywhere near his victim.
