Drug dealer jailed
Date published: 27 November 2015
A DRUG dealer has been jailed for four-and-a-half years for supplying crack cocaine.
Jawaad Karim (25), of Hanson Street, Greenacres, was found guilty of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs by a jury at Minshull Street Crown Court yesterday.
A warrant was executed at an address on Vicarage Street, Hollins, in September, 2012, where police recovered crack cocaine with a street value of £2,500.
Karim was subsequently arrested following investigations by officers from Oldham’s Organised Crime Unit who were able to link him to the address and the drugs.
It is believed the address was being used as a safe house to store drugs by organised criminals.
Message
Det Insp Paul Walker, from Oldham’s Organised Crime Unit, said “This sends out a message to organised criminals from Oldham that this is what they can expect if they are involved in dealing drugs on our streets.
“Drugs cause widespread destruction to users and have a wider impact on the community and we will never give up on our fight against this type of crime.
“Communities have told us that they want drugs and drug dealing tackled across the borough and I hope that this continuous action highlights how seriously we take these crimes.”
If you have information on anyone who may be involved in the supply of drugs, call police on 101 or visit www.gmp.police.uk for more information.
