Dashing towards Christmas
Date published: 11 November 2015
Christmas will come early to a Saddleworth village when scores of happy volunteers take part in a first-ever Santa Dash.
Organised by Saddleworth Round Table, the colourful event will be part of its Winter Wonderland celebration on Saturday, December 5.
And there has already been a deluge of entrants signing up to a choice of two colourful fun runs, which begin in the car park on Uppermill High Street, at 2pm.
There is an adult 5km fun run, entry cost £10 including a free Santa suit, and a junior one mile fun run, entry costs £2.
Round Table chairman Matthew Sykes said: “Entries for the Santa Dash are rolling in. The idea has really caught the imagination of families and locals.
“We’ve had a fabulous amount of interest and I’m sure the dash will be a great success. It will really set the seal on our Christmas fundraising celebration.”
The two runs, which finish at the Square, outside The Commercial and Uppermill Methodist Church, take place ahead of the Winter Wonderland event.
Party
All funds go towards the Round Table’s old folks Christmas party.
Tickets for the Santa Dash are available from Paul’s Quality Meats, Uppermill, and online at www.eventbrite.com/e/saddleworth-santa-dash-2015-tickets-19022085570.
Registration for the Santa Dash begins at 1pm with the event starting at 2pm.
