Women targeted at cash machines

A GANG of men has been targeting elderly women at cash machines in Oldham.
Four men targeted the women — aged between 73 and 84 — just before they withdrew money from cash machines.
The men distracted the women, claiming they were using the cash machine the wrong way and managed to obtain their pin numbers. When they left, the men withdrew money.
The incidents took place outside the Yorkshire Bank in Market Place, Barclays in High Street, and twice outside Lloyds TSB, also in Market Place.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may recognise the men to contact them.
Insp Mark Davis said: “It is terrible these women have been targeted in this way and those responsible appear well practised in committing these crimes.
“We believe they could be committing similar offences elsewhere and I would appeal for anyone who recognise those in the images to contact us.
“I would ask people to be vigilant and take precautions. Please be aware of your surroundings and make sure you cover the keys when you type in your pin number.”
Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
