Mary Barnes: 100 yesterday
A FORMER jam factory worker celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday.
Mary Barns, who now lives in Springfield House, Waterhead, was born and grew up in Droylsden and worked at Robinson’s local jam factory.
She moved to Hollins when she married husband John, an Oldham council worker.
Mary said she started smoking at the age of 16 - but gave up at 89 because it wasn’t good for her!
