Conmen target man, 87

An 87-year-old man was targeted by doorstep conmen.
A thief knocked on the door of the elderly victim’s home in Stamford Road, Lees, claiming to be concerned about the drainage system.
He was invited inside and the victim went oit to see if work was being done in the street. When he realised it wasn’t, he went back in and heard noises upstairs.
He went up to find two men searching his wardrobe, with the other downstairs. All three left empty handed.
Detective Sergeant Jason Byrne reiterated that resident should always check credential of callers.
“We only have a description of one of the men; who was white, in his mid 20s-30s, around 5ft 7in tall and wearing a high-vis jacket,” he added.
