POLICE are warning residents in Shaw to be on their guard after seven burglaries in a fortnight.
In one attempted burglary, in Scowcroft Lane, the raider was caught on CCTV after a failed attempt to break in. He was disturbed by a barking dog.
In another incident in Scowcroft Lane between 2.30am and 5.30am on Monday last week, a raider got in through an insecure window.
In a separate raid in Chamber Road, a burglar was disturbed by the owner at about 4.30am after getting in through an insecure front door.
Insp Trevor Harrison of Oldham police warned the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.
He said: “At this time of year we see an increase in burglary as the dark nights draw in. We would urge occupants to do all they can to deter burglars. We clearly have a burglar at large in this area who is committing crime in the early hours of the morning.”
