Jealous ex punished with restraining order

A “PARANOID” lover who assaulted his girlfriend has been put under a restraining order.
Paul Longden (23), of Lower Edge Avenue, Oldham, pleaded guilty to posting an offensive or indecent message on Facebook but had denied assault. He was found guilty by Oldham magistrates on September 15 and the case was adjourned until yesterday for reports.
In July Longden started packing his now ex-girlfriend Aisha Shabir’s belongings, accusing her of cheating on him. She kicked a cupboard door and accidentally broke his television, at which Longden grabbed her round the waist and then by the throat, pinning her to the bed and threatening her.
While he was out she packed her things and left.
Longden went on to put her number on Facebook and told people to contact her if they wanted sex.
Miss Shabir told police and Longden was arrested.
At his trialLongden admitted being a “paranoid” person who let his jealousy get the better of him.
He was given an 18-month intensive community order and a 12-month restraining order, and was ordered to pay £500 costs and £100 compensation.
