AN Oldham pub is in line for a national award for its commitment to the local community.
The Greenacres, in Greenacres Road, is a finalist in the Enterprise Inns Community Heroes Awards.
The awards celebrate the role pubs play in the lives of local people.
Gina Taylor has been landlady at the Greenacres for the past seven years with partner Chris. The pub stages a firework display every November, hosts darts and snooker teams, and Gina is “mum” to many of the players. She and Chris also provide meals for local elderly people living alone.
Three pubs from each of 18 company regions have been selected for the final, which is on Tuesday in Blackburn.
