Moors death crash: woman arrested
Date published: 29 September 2015
POLICE have arrested an 18-year-old woman on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The arrest followed the death of teenage boy from Diggle in the four-vehicle pile up in Greenfield Road on Sunday afternoon.
The 17-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, was one of three people in a VW Polo that ended up in a drainage ditch by the side of the road.
West Yorkshire Police’s major collision inquiry team is leading the investigation and wants to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, which closed the road for most of Sunday evening.
Involved in the crash were the black VW, a blue Fiat 500 driven by the 18-year-old woman and a white Toyota Hiace all heading towards Holmfirth, and a black Audi A3 heading towards Oldham.
A 56-year-old Oldham man in the Toyota was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains serious but stable after being freed from his car.
The 17-year-old driver of the Polo remains in hospital in Leeds, though his injuries aren’t life threatening.
A 36-year-old Rotherham man driving the Audi suffered serious injuries and was also treated at Leeds.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
