YOUNG footballers in Chadderton are hoping to go on TV - to find other teams to play.
The cerebral palsy team - the first in the North West affiliated to the FA — trains at Chadderton Park Sports Club. Club secretary Craig Simpson said: “We now have three teams at various age groups but have no one to play. We train for two hours every two weeks and our numbers keep growing and the player’s development is fantastic to see. We just need teams to play against!
“Around six weeks ago, I wrote to ‘Blue Peter’ asking if the footballers could be on their show. The children would love to be on TV and we feel it would make a great story and help inspire others to set up similar sessions.
“We have already inspired a few other clubs to set up similar teams. One of our players travels from Stoke to play with us and is holding a taster session next weekend in Stoke, and hopefully another in Crewe.
“The players love playing for the team and wear their yellow Chadderton Park colours with pride, they just want to play a match against another team. If we could get some coverage on TV then maybe their dream could soon happen.”

- News of Chaddy Park’s cerebral palsy team will soon be spread around the country thanks to Yelloway Coaches. The coach firm sponsors the team and has put posters with pictures of the squad on the back of their vehicles.
