Man held over double stabbing

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a double stabbing in Clarksfield yesterday.
Police were called in theearly hours of Monday morning following reports that two men - aged 24 and 27 - had been stabbed.
Both were walking in Red Hall Street when another man grabbed a bag carried by the 24 year old and stabbed them in the back and leg when they tried to stop him.
One of the men has since been released from the Royal Oldham Hospital after treatment, while the other remains under care.
Police cordons were set up around an alleyway behind Kelverlow Street and Goss Hall Street as well as a separate forensics tent on Lees Road. A 23-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of wounding. Police are still keen to her from anyone who might have witnessed the assault.
