Spider grapes leave a sour taste

Grapes caused a bunch of trouble for Stephanie Daniel when she boght some at the local supermarket.
Stephanie, from Shaw, put her red grapes in the refrigerator and wasn’t even too fazed when she saw a spider crawling out of her fridge next day... or when she found a whiteish bubble while eating one grape and threw it in the bin.
But when she ate the rest of the fruit at work and accidentally split another of the white sacs, out came - a spider!
Stephanie, a midwife support worker at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, was horrified to discover the creature in her snack and was physically sick.
“I was at work at the time,” said the 33-year-old mum of two. This disgusting spider shell-type thing popped out. I had to dash to the loo to throw up. When I showed it to my colleagues they were as gobsmacked and disgusted as I was.”
Stephanie returned to Asda with the spider an claims staff seemed “not particularly concerned” and told her it was probably mould and to choose more grapes.
“I knew it wasn’t mould - it had eyes and legs,” she said. “This has put me off grapes for life.
“I’ve since cleared all the contents out of my fridge and thrown them away as I couldn’t bear the thought of what might have been in there.”
An Asda spokesman said the vast majority of spiders found in fruit such as grapes and bananas are Huntsman spiders and not harmful. Checks do take place but sometimes insects tag along to give us a fright.”
