North Stand: new opening date.
OLDHAM Athletic have announced a provisional opening date for the much-delayed new North Stand.
The club is confident the stand will be open when Latics take on Sheffield United on October 17 - subject to the granting of a certificate to permit public use.
The stand, originally due to open last season, will seat just under 2,500 fans and house a supporters’ bar, a 500-seat conference facility, offices, a commercial suite, car park, a gym and a coffee shop.
In July, the club reassured fans that anyone who had bought a season ticket for the new stand would be able to sit their for the first home game against Fleetwood a month ago.
Three weeks later club owner Simon Corney admitted the stand wouldn’t be ready due to problems with the electricity connection.
Speaking about the new provisional opening date, commercial director Mark Moisley said: “While the club shares the frustration of supporters over the delays, we are excited at the prospect of the opening and will be providing weekly updates to supporters in the countdown to this.”
