Trains project go-ahead vital for the North

OLDHAM COUNCIL: DISMAYED councillors will lobby the Government to lift the pause on electrifying the line between Manchester and Leeds.
The council has instructed chief executive Carolyn Wilkins to write to Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin and Chancellor George Osborne. The council will also ask MPs Debbie Abrahams, Angela Rayner and Michael Meacher to support the demand.
