Rubbish dumpers pay the price

EIGHT people have been punished at Oldham Magistrates Court for flouting environmental health laws.
Ghazanfor Mahmood (49) asked an unknown man to remove rubbish from his home in Brompton Street, Glodwick and the waste was flytipped in Holts Lane. Mahmood was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £602 costs.
A similar story resulted in Shagufta Noreen being fined £110 and ordered to pay costs of £470
Kimberley Stroud (17) of Bolton St, Glodwick, Stacey Tramaseur (19) of Clevedon Road, Chadderton, and Habban Choudhury (42) of Gower Street, Mumps, were all issued with a fixed penalty notice for dropping cigarette ends.
All failed to pay or appear in court and were found guilty of littering. Each was fined £200 with £250 costs.
Emma Vinnicombe (28) of Lancaster Street, Chadderton, failed to pay a fixed penalty notice and was fined £37 with £100 costs after pleading guilty by post. But Melanie Lomas (26) of Westfield Street, Chadderton, was fined £200 with £250 costs after failing to pay a fixed penalty notice.
Bridget Maughan left bagged waste at a collection point in Hollins Road in December, in breach of and Environmental Protection Act notice she had previously been given. The 28 year old, of Hollins Road, was fined £600 with £463.50 costs after failing to pay a fixed penalty notice of £60.
