POP EXTRA2:
TOUR buses, who needs ‘em? Right now Graham Lambert, the Saddleworth-based Inspiral Carpets guitarist who has decided to pedal across the hills to Holmfirth on June 26 for the iconic band’s gig at the Picturedrome.
Graham, a keen cyclist, told me: “It’s only around 10 miles to Holmfirth so I’m going to ride to the Picturedrome on my bike. It’s the middle of summer and though it’s quite hilly over the top, it ought to be a really nice ride.
“As soon as the gig was confirmed I thought to myself I’d it a go on my bike. There’s a few others joining me and I’ve asked Steve (front-man Holt) and Craig (drummer Gill) to come along for the ride - but they haven’t made up their minds yet.”
Graham will set off for Holmfirth from the Clarence pub in Uppermill at 2pm on Friday week. he also plans riding back to Saddleworth post-gig even though it could be around midnight.
“As long as I’ve got my lights on I should be okay,” added Graham.

CONGRATULATIONS to local outfit Indigo Empire, who sufficiently wooed judges at a showcase at Shure 5 Studios to earn themselves a place in the Blackthorn Festival at Stockport’s Etherow Country Park from July 24-26.
The Indigo lads were one of six bands who featured on the latest show at Dave Flint’s superb Royton headquarters.
DON’T forget the 5ft Fez “Watch me Fall” EP launch at Manchester’s Hard Rock Cafe on Friday.
Matt, Ross and Joe will hit the stage at around 9.30pm for what promises to be a cracking night.
Admission is free for what promises to be the event of the weekend. My review will feature here soon.
